After extensive research and comparison with other brands, I decided to buy an Engwe M20 with dual battery, and I'm so glad I did!
I am very, very satisfied with my purchase and the always fast and excellent support from Engwe, which I will explain further below.
Assembly & riding experience
Even for someone with no experience like me, assembly process was easy, except for calibrating the front wheel, which requires a bit more patience. Having someone help you makes the process much easier.
The lights (which are beautiful and very powerful, even on dark nights) are easy to install, as are the pedals and handlebars (these are the only components to assemble). The e-bike is of course heavy, as expected, but with pedal assist levels between 1 and 5, and the throttle at startup, the riding experience is very easy and safe; really minimum effort.
The only downside I would point out is that this model has mechanical brakes rather than hydraulic ones. However, this is where the support really impressed me, not only for their kindness and quick response but also because within about a week I was able to order and receive the original hydraulic brake kit, along with an installation video. Since I don’t know much about mechanics, I took the kit to specific bike shop for installation. Everything was done perfectly, and the bike now performs much more efficiently regarding breaks
I ‘ve chosen green M20, but I also love the black color. I’m writing this review now (about a month and a half later) because I wanted to have time to properly test it on various terrains and diferent rides — and I’m very satisfied!
The battery life is excellent. Even with pedal assist at levels 2 or 3, I can easily do at least 40 km (with just one battery!), and so far, I haven’t run out of battery. I alternate between the two batteries: one on one day, the other the next.
I will do a separate review soon because my brother chose the new M1 model! It was a fantastic gift that allows us to enjoy nature and visit places we hadn’t been to in a long time!
