Almost Perfect City ebike

This Engwe N1 Pro is a Chinese city e-bike of excellent quality, with no compromises in terms of construction.
The electric bike is delivered from the European warehouse practically pre-assembled, and the most important tools for subsequent assembly are included. Only the front wheel, handlebars, pedals and mudguards remain to be assembled. The instructions are easy to understand, so even beginners should be able to follow them. Before starting to ride, it is worth tightening all the pre-assembled screws.
It has a Toray carbon fibre monocoque frame, it's aerodynamic, finished in small details, lightweight and elegant. All cables are routed internally up to the steering.
Unfortunately, the loose cables hang right in front of the bright integrated headlight, but with care they can be arranged around the front RGB lights. Behind, the rear light is detached, turns on automatically in the dark and recharges itself with a small solar panel.
The very distinctive design has a couple of flaws, one being the seat tube, which is too short and will need to be replaced for medium-tall riders, and the other being the lack of height adjustment on the handlebar with the display, which is impossible to change due to the cables.
I bought the e-bike as an early bird bundle with a nice heavy-duty luggage rack, where you can put bags or add a child seat.
The charger is large and controllable and allows for a quick full charge in up to 1.5 hours at maximum current (8A) or up to 6 hours at minimum current (2A) to preserve capacity.
The Samsung battery is well made with 360Wh, giving a range of about 60km on flat ground or 40km on hills at maximum assistance, and it allows for good acceleration and the 250W of power to the Ananda M1000 central motor with 80 NM of torque, legally limited to 25 km/h.
The electronic assistance can be adjusted to five levels, from Eco mode to maximum assistance for the most difficult climbs. It starts gently and never feels abrupt or artificial. Especially on flat sections, a low level of support is often sufficient for agile and fast travel. On hills, the N1 Pro shows its capabilities. The motor can handle even the steepest climbs, as long as you put in a little effort, it always remains pleasantly quiet.
The gearbox is a 7-speed Shimano Tourney, and there are Tektro 2-piston hydraulic disc brakes with 160 discs. The wheels are 700x42c with Chao Yang semi-slick tyres, which are good for mixed terrain between city and parks.
The riding position is sporty, so if you want to ride around town in a relaxed manner with your back straight, this is the wrong bike for you. The combination of low handlebars and short seat post forces you to lean forward. Comfort is decent thanks to the flexibility of the carbon frame, but without shock absorbers, I would not recommend riding on dirt roads or gravel.
The best advantage is obviously its light weight (only 19 kg) along with the anti-theft lock with GPS tracking, integrated eSim, Bluetooth connection, and all smart IoT functions controlled from the Engwe mobile app.
The bike locks automatically when switched off, but remember to chain it securely as even with the wheel locked it can easily be carried on your shoulder.
The eSIM features are free for one year from activation. After that, an annual fee of €39 will be charged.
Finally, Engwe has an excellent customer service, they respond quickly and are always helpful. In a couple of cases of manufacturing errors, they sent me a complete replacement part. So for me, if the price of the bike is under €2000, it's a really good deal.

It's very very lightweight but has impressive Power on the Hills!
I bought It when was in offer and made a great purchase. It's impossible for now finding another bike with this specs at the same price

J’ai acheté mon premier vélo électrique il y a un mois, avec quelques doutes sur son utilité… Aujourd’hui, je ne regrette absolument pas ! J’en suis déjà à plus de 1000 km. L’assistance électrique change tout : ça rend les balades tellement plus agréables, c'est plus rapide, sans arriver en sueur. C’est devenu mon moyen de transport principal que ce soit pour les trajets quotidiens ou les balades du week-end. Un vrai plaisir !
